NordVPN sells three plans in the US: Basic, Complete and Prime. All three cover 10 devices at once. Basic is the VPN with scam and phishing protection and Dark Web Monitor for up to 5 email addresses. Complete adds next-gen antivirus, an ad and tracker blocker, the NordPass password manager, 1 TB of NordLocker cloud storage and wider monitoring. Prime adds Coveron identity protection for US residents. On the 2-year plan they cost $94.23, $121.23 and $202.23 for the first 27 months, then renew at $139.08, $219.48 and $296.28 a year. The VPN and the device allowance are the same in all three, so choose by the extras you’d actually use.

What each NordVPN plan includes

This table follows NordVPN’s US price grid on 13 October 2026 and uses NordVPN’s own feature names. Each plan includes everything in the plan before it.

Some lines carry conditions. Dark Web Monitor Pro covers up to 8 email addresses plus phone, credit card and national ID or Social Security numbers. The grid marks message protection “Android only, iOS coming soon.” Coveron, which NordVPN calls “a third-party tool available to US residents,” covers credit freeze assistance, identity theft insurance and cyber extortion insurance. NordVPN says the two insurance covers are available to US residents except those in New York, and that it is not a licensed insurance producer; HSB Specialty Insurance Company issues the benefits. Prime doesn’t include Incogni: on the US grid, it’s an add-on at checkout for every plan.

Threat Protection: which protection is in which plan

Every plan includes what NordVPN’s grid calls scam and phishing protection. Complete and Prime add anti-malware & browsing protection powered by next-gen antivirus, which NordVPN’s pricing data lists under the service name “Threat Protection.” The name Threat Protection Pro no longer appears on the grids we checked on 13 October 2026, so expect current plan tables to say “next-gen antivirus” instead. If malware scanning is what you’re after, that’s the line that separates Basic from Complete, though NordVPN says the full feature runs only on Windows and the Mac app downloaded from its website. Basic’s DNS-based protection already blocks ads and trackers while you’re connected, according to NordVPN’s support guide. Our NordVPN Threat Protection guide explains the feature in more detail.

The price gap today and at renewal

Term Basic Complete Prime
2 years + 3 months, paid upfront $94.23 $121.23 $202.23
Monthly equivalent over 27 months $3.49 $4.49 $7.49
1 year, paid upfront $65.88 $77.88 $113.88
Yearly renewal after either term $139.08 $219.48 $296.28
1 month, billed monthly $14.99 $19.99 $29.99

USD before sales tax, from NordVPN’s US grid and renewal table, checked 13 October 2026.

On the 2-year plan, Complete costs $27.00 more than Basic ($121.23 − $94.23), or $1.00 a month over 27 months. Prime costs $108.00 more than Basic. On the 1-year plan the gaps are $12.00 and $48.00.

The gap widens at renewal. Complete renews at $80.40 a year more than Basic ($219.48 − $139.08), and Prime at $157.20 more. Over the first 27 months plus one renewal year, Basic totals $233.31, Complete $340.71 and Prime $498.51. A plan that looks like a small step up at checkout becomes a bigger yearly cost later, so budget for the renewal line too. Our NordVPN price guide works out the cheapest term for how long you’ll use it.

Ten devices on every plan

NordVPN’s grid lists “10 devices secured at once” on all three plans. Complete and Prime add services, not simultaneous connections, so a higher plan won’t help if you need more than 10 devices connected at the same time.

What happened to Plus, and where Ultra fits

Plus isn’t on any current NordVPN grid. The name survives in NordVPN’s US renewal table, its retail page and an outdated NordVPN blog post. The renewal table lists Plus at $179.88 a year, alongside two other older plan names, Standard at $149.88 and Ultimate at $256.68. Those figures matter only if you still hold one of those older subscriptions. NordVPN’s subscription terms say it sends a notice with the then-current renewal price 30 days before charging plans longer than a month.

Ultra is the top plan outside the US. NordVPN’s pricing page as served in Lithuania shows Basic, Complete and Ultra, priced in euros. Ultra is Complete plus Incogni (the Incogni Standard plan), a personal data removal tool that NordVPN says is available to US, UK, EU, Canada and Switzerland residents only. US-facing pages show Prime in its place.

Upgrading or downgrading later

NordVPN’s pricing FAQ says you can upgrade from your Nord Account profile: select “View details” under NordVPN, then “Manage plan,” and choose the plan. It adds that the change “will take effect when your current subscription expires.” Its help article describes picking a plan and length under “Available plans” and paying for it in full, and notes that buying while subscribed “will extend your current services with the additional time.” NordVPN doesn’t say whether you get credit for the unused part of your current plan.

Downgrading is harder. NordVPN’s help center says you “cannot downgrade your active subscriptions” and must first request a refund under its money-back policy, which covers first purchases within 30 days. If you’re unsure, starting on the lower plan keeps the documented upgrade route open.

Which plan fits which need

  • Basic: you want the VPN on up to 10 devices and already have a password manager, cloud storage and malware protection you’re happy with.
  • Complete: you’d use at least one of NordPass, 1 TB of NordLocker storage, or the next-gen antivirus and ad blocker, and you accept a renewal $80.40 a year above Basic.
  • Prime: you live in the US and want Coveron’s credit freeze assistance and identity theft and cyber extortion insurance. New York residents can’t get the insurance covers, so check what Prime would still add for you.
  • Ultra, outside the US: you want Incogni’s data removal on top of Complete.

NordVPN Basic: $94.23 today for 27 months, then $139.08 every year.

Common questions

What’s the difference between NordVPN Basic and Complete?

Both include the VPN for 10 devices and scam and phishing protection. Complete adds next-gen antivirus, an ad and tracker blocker, NordPass, 1 TB of NordLocker storage and Dark Web Monitor Pro. It costs $27.00 more for the first 27 months and $80.40 more a year at renewal.

Is NordVPN Prime available outside the US?

Not on the grids we checked. Prime appears on US-facing pages, and its Coveron services are for US residents. Outside the US, the top plan is Ultra.

Do higher NordVPN plans allow more devices?

No. All three plans list 10 devices secured at once. The higher plans add security and identity services, not connections.

Is NordVPN Plus still available?

Not on NordVPN’s current grids. Its US renewal table still lists Plus at $179.88 a year, which matters to people renewing an older Plus subscription. Our NordVPN review covers the VPN features every current plan shares.
