The PIA deal in actual money

You don’t need a code for the current Private Internet Access discount. On 13 October 2026, the deal page our offer button opens listed $46.54 upfront for 26 months, sold as two years plus two months. $46.54 ÷ 26 = $1.79, the monthly equivalent PIA advertises; PIA collects the whole $46.54 at checkout rather than $1.79 a month.

The deal page labels the plan “Save 85%” beside a struck-through $310.70. That figure equals 26 months at PIA’s $11.95 monthly price ($11.95 × 26 = $310.70), so the 85% is, in effect, a comparison with paying month to month for the same period. The page does not mention tax, so check whether checkout adds any for your location.

Our link carries the deal to PIA’s own page, so there is no code to type. The offer can change after our check, so confirm the plan and total on PIA’s page before you pay.

Monthly billing is shown as repeated calendar payments. An explicitly hypothetical upfront example shows $60 paid today for 24 months, equivalent to $2.50 per month. It advises checking the total, plan length and renewal terms.

The renewal amount isn’t on the deal page

The deal line reads “$46.54 first 2 years and yearly thereafter”. It gives the renewal interval, once a year after the first term, but not the amount. Don’t read it as $46.54 a year, and don’t borrow the $47.88 that PIA’s public plans page charges for a separate 1-year plan. Neither page states what this deal renews at, so we leave the figure blank rather than guess.

Before you pay, look for a renewal amount in the checkout’s order summary and the terms shown with it. If none appears, ask PIA support and keep the answer with your order confirmation. Either way, set a reminder before month 26. PIA’s cancellation guide says to turn auto-renewal off in the Client Control Panel (Next Billing → Turn off auto-renewal); access continues through the paid term.

USD quotes checked 13 October 2026, before applicable tax. Currency, campaign and checkout prices can vary. Monthly rates are equivalents of upfront payments. How pricing works.

The 6-month plan costs $45.00 ($45.00 ÷ 6 = $7.50 a month), only $1.54 less than the 26-month deal for 20 fewer months. At the $11.95 monthly price, three months cost $35.85, but four ($47.80) already cost more than the whole 26-month deal. If you expect to use PIA for four months or more, the deal costs less than paying monthly, even if you stop long before it ends. The deal page shows no renewal amount for any of the three plans.

The deal page and PIA’s public plans page differ

On 13 October 2026, PIA’s public plans page showed different offers from the deal page our button opens. It carried a “Halloween Price Slash” banner and listed these plans:

Public plans page Shown per month First payment Printed renewal
3 years + 3 months $1.89 Not printed $73.71 every 3 years
1 year $3.99 $47.88 $47.88 every year
1 month $11.95 $11.95 $11.95 every month

Each page leaves out a different figure. The deal page prints its first payment but not its renewal. The public three-year plan prints its renewal but not its first payment, and a rounded $1.89 multiplied by 39 months isn’t a reliable total, so we don’t state one. Its $1.89 equivalent is 10 cents above the deal’s $1.79.

The public 1-year plan is the plainest bill: $47.88 ($47.88 ÷ 12 = $3.99), renewing at $47.88 a year. It costs $1.34 more than the 26-month deal for 14 fewer months, and it is a separate plan, not a preview of the deal’s renewal. If a known renewal matters more to you than the smallest first bill, compare that plan’s checkout with the deal’s.

How to claim the PIA offer

  1. Open the PIA deal page (affiliate link) and check that the address is privateinternetaccess.com before entering any details.
  2. Select “2 Years + 2 Months” for the deal quoted here. The $1.79 equivalent belongs to that plan, not to the 6-month or monthly plans.
  3. Read the currency, the full first payment, any tax and the renewal line. If no renewal amount is shown, ask PIA support before you pay.
  4. Check any optional extras separately. An add-on changes the bill and can carry its own conditions.
  5. Keep the order number and confirmation, which PIA’s refund process asks for, and set a reminder to review auto-renewal before the 26 months end.

If you are already a customer, check the offer in your account; new-customer promotions and renewal terms may differ. If checkout shows another amount, divide that amount by its months rather than relying on an older coupon-page price.

How the deal compares with other VPN quotes

Against the other quotes we checked on 13 October 2026, PIA’s deal has both the smallest first payment and the lowest monthly equivalent. Its weak point is the renewal: the other three print theirs.

Selected plan Paid today Months Monthly equivalent Then renews at
PIA deal $46.54 26 $1.79 Yearly; amount not shown
Surfshark Starter $67.23 27 $2.49 $79.00 a year
PrivateVPN $72.00 36 $2.00 $72.00 a year, per its plan card
NordVPN Basic $94.23 27 $3.49 $139.08 a year

Surfshark Starter costs $20.69 more today ($67.23 − $46.54) and NordVPN Basic $47.69 more; each covers one month longer. PrivateVPN costs $25.46 more for 10 more months. Tax and location can change each checkout total.

Cheapest today is not the same as cheapest over time. A first term plus one renewal comes to $146.23 for 39 months with Surfshark Starter ($67.23 + $79.00) and $233.31 for 39 months with NordVPN Basic ($94.23 + $139.08). PIA’s figure is $46.54 plus a renewal we couldn’t verify, so we can’t rank the providers over the longer run.

Who PIA suits

PIA lists unlimited simultaneous connections, which removes the need to choose a larger subscription just because a household has several active devices. This still requires following the provider’s account and usage terms; “unlimited devices” is a connection allowance, not permission to resell access.

The more distinctive reason to consider PIA is its documented desktop routing control. Current support covers app rules on Windows, macOS and Linux, and DNS choices on Windows and Linux. Android has per-app exclusions. These details matter if you want one program to use the VPN while another keeps a direct route.

Mac support needs care because PIA’s older marketing FAQ and newer support instructions disagree. The current desktop guide describes approving a split-tunnel network extension; follow that guide for your installed app. PIA’s official pages also conflict about iOS app exclusions, so we have not verified that feature. Do not commit to 26 months solely for an iPhone setting that has not been established.

Read the PIA review for the platform limits, or compare Surfshark and PIA side by side if iPhone website exclusions or Linux app rules decide your choice. We have not measured speed, leaks or streaming access on this site.

The 30-day refund policy needs a careful reading

PIA’s current terms explicitly refer to refunds requested within 30 days of an initial purchase and/or renewal. Its marketing is narrower: the deal page describes a 30-day money-back guarantee “for new users”, and some pricing footers describe the guarantee as applying to new subscribers. Because those statements differ, this page links the current terms and eligibility guide rather than making a blanket promise about every payment.

The eligibility guide distinguishes direct website purchases from Apple and Google Play transactions, and excludes gift-card and deal-site purchases from the provider’s direct guarantee. Verification requirements and previous-refund conditions also apply. A coupon link does not remove those conditions.

For a direct refund request, use PIA support with your registered account email and order number. Turning off auto-renewal in the Client Control Panel is a separate step and ordinarily retains access through the paid term. Uninstalling the app alone stops neither billing nor an upcoming renewal. Our VPN refund guide sets PIA’s rules beside other providers’.

Is the 26-month deal worth it?

On price, the case is strong if you expect to keep a VPN for more than a few months: it is the smallest first bill among the quotes above, and four months of monthly billing already cost more. The case against is the renewal you can’t see yet, plus the platform questions above. If a stated renewal matters to you, the public 1-year plan or a provider that prints its renewal may suit you better. For a trip of a month or two, the $11.95 monthly plan costs less today.

PIA VPN: $46.54 today for 26 months, then it renews yearly at the current renewal price.

Common questions

Does PIA require a coupon code?

No. Our link opens PIA’s deal page with the price already shown. We haven’t verified a standalone code, we don’t publish one, and we don’t claim that discounts can be stacked.

What does the PIA deal renew at after 26 months?

It renews yearly, but the deal page doesn’t print the amount. Don’t assume $46.54 or the public 1-year plan’s $47.88; check the checkout summary and terms, and ask PIA support if no figure is shown.

Are PIA renewals refundable?

Current terms include renewal requests within the stated 30-day window, while marketing statements, including the deal page’s “for new users” line, are narrower. Read the applicable terms and eligibility rules and confirm your purchase channel with support.

Does the PIA deal expire?

The deal page shows a “Deal Expires in” countdown but no end date, and we haven’t verified when the offer ends. This page has no countdown; if the deal changes, PIA’s page and checkout show the current price.

Is PIA the cheapest VPN available anywhere?

We compare a few selected paid VPN offers, not every VPN on the market. Among the quotes on this page, PIA’s deal has the smallest first payment and the lowest monthly equivalent, but that is not a market-wide ranking, and its renewal is unknown.
