NordVPN price: what you pay today, per month and at renewal

NordVPN Basic on the 2-year plan costs $94.23 paid upfront for 27 months (two years plus three extra months), before sales tax. That’s a monthly equivalent of $3.49 ($94.23 ÷ 27), the lowest on NordVPN’s standard US grid, but the full amount is charged at checkout. After those 27 months, Basic renews at $139.08 a year. Paying month to month costs $14.99 for Basic, $19.99 for Complete and $29.99 for Prime. These USD prices come from NordVPN’s US price grid, its checkout and its renewal table, checked on 13 October 2026.

NordVPN sells three US plans, Basic, Complete and Prime, each on three terms: 2 years plus 3 extra months, 1 year and 1 month. The extra months are part of the standard 2-year plans. NordVPN doesn’t label them as a time-limited campaign or give them an end date. The crossed-out figures on NordVPN’s grid come from renewal rates. NordVPN labels its savings “intro vs. renewal prices”: Basic’s struck-through $312.93 is 27 months at the renewal rate ($139.08 ÷ 12 = $11.59, and $11.59 × 27 = $312.93). The discount badge measures the gap to the renewal price, so the renewal line deserves as much attention as the badge.

How much NordVPN costs a month, a year and after 2 years

• Per month: the 1-month Basic plan costs $14.99, “billed every month.” NordVPN publishes no separate renewal figure for monthly plans, so check the amount at checkout.
• Per year: the 1-year Basic plan costs $65.88 upfront, a $5.49 monthly equivalent, and renews at $139.08 for the next year.
• After 2 years: the 2-year Basic plan covers 27 months for $94.23, then renews at $139.08 a year, an $11.59 monthly equivalent. Keeping it for 39 months costs $233.31 before tax ($94.23 + $139.08).

All 1-year and 2-year plans renew yearly. NordVPN’s US renewal table lists Basic at $139.08, Complete at $219.48 and Prime at $296.28 a year. It says renewals are charged in the currency of your first payment, plus tax, and that renewal prices may be subject to A/B price testing. NordVPN’s subscription terms add that it sends a reminder with the then-current renewal price 30 days before charging plans longer than a month. We found no public NordVPN announcement of a 2026 price increase. The renewal table is marked “Last updated June 10, 2026,” and NordVPN’s terms say a price change applies only when you renew, with notice in advance.

The cheapest way to buy for how long you’ll use it

The lowest monthly equivalent isn’t always the lowest bill. What matters is the total divided by the months you’ll actually use. For Basic:

Monthly billing costs less than the 1-year plan for up to four months: four payments total $59.96 and five total $74.95, against $65.88 for the year. That assumes each monthly charge stays at $14.99. If you’ll stop after a year, the 1-year plan costs less than the 2-year plan: $94.23 ÷ 12 = $7.85 per month used, against $5.49. If you’ll need more than a year, start with the 2-year plan: renewing the 1-year plan costs $139.08 on its own, more than the whole 27-month bill.

The same pattern holds on the higher plans. Complete’s and Prime’s yearly renewals ($219.48 and $296.28) also cost more than their 27-month bills ($121.23 and $202.23), and their 1-year plans cost less than monthly billing from the fourth month.

The 1-year rows assume you turn off auto-renewal before the renewal charge. NordVPN documents this in Nord Account under Billing, and access continues for the paid period; our guide to canceling NordVPN and getting a refund has the steps. The 39-month row assumes the standard renewal. NordVPN’s help center says you can buy a new plan with your existing account email and have the time added, but it doesn’t say whether introductory prices apply to active customers.

Ultra: the top plan outside the US

US-facing NordVPN pages show Prime as the top plan. The pricing page as served in Lithuania instead shows Basic, Complete and Ultra, in euros with “VAT may apply.” Ultra is Complete plus Incogni, a personal data removal tool that NordVPN says is available to residents of the US, UK, EU, Canada and Switzerland only. NordVPN’s pricing data in USD put Ultra at $177.93 for 27 months, $103.08 for a year and $22.89 for a month, renewing at $269.88 a year, the figure its US renewal table also lists. No US-facing page we checked offered Ultra, and the euro prices on that page are separate amounts, not dollars.

Add-ons, sales tax and payment methods

Dedicated IP is a paid add-on on every plan, billed for the same term as the plan. With the 2-year plan it costs $99.63 for 27 months (27 × $3.69); with the 1-year plan, $70.68 (12 × $5.89); with the 1-month plan, $8.99. NordVPN’s US renewal table lists the dedicated IP renewal at $81.48 a year. So Basic with a dedicated IP on the 2-year plan costs $193.86 today and $220.56 a year at renewal. NordVPN says setup can take up to three business days. Incogni is also offered at checkout on the US grid.

Sales tax isn’t included in any price on this page. The US grid says “Sales tax may apply,” and NordVPN’s terms say prices may be displayed without tax, which checkout adds for your tax country. We couldn’t see a US sales tax amount.

Payment methods: NordVPN’s support article lists credit cards, cryptocurrency, PayPal, Sofort (Klarna), bank or local bank transfers and prepaid debit cards, plus payment through the Amazon App Store, Apple Pay, Google Pay, the Apple App Store and Google Play. Its pricing FAQ names Visa, Mastercard, American Express, Discover and Maestro cards, and Bitcoin, Ethereum, Litecoin and Stablecoin. Some methods aren’t available in every region. The website doesn’t accept gift cards, but NordVPN’s retail page lists boxed copies at Best Buy, Staples, Micro Center, Newegg and Amazon in the US. Refunds for App Store and Amazon purchases go through those stores; NordVPN’s refund policy says Google Play refunds can be requested through its support, or from Google Play within 48 hours of payment.

No lifetime, 3-year or 5-year plan

NordVPN’s help center says it “currently offers 2-year, 1-year, and 1-month subscription plans,” and the official term selector shows only those three. We found no 3-year, 5-year or lifetime plan on NordVPN’s official pages. The longest first term is 27 months, after which the plan renews one year at a time.

Is the 2-year plan always the best value?
